Page 220-A scene in "Karth"

Much of what an author writes is a running scene within their head. But music can help with the visualization.
Here is a scene on page 220 of the manuscript for my new book, "Karth." It takes place out at Teddy Campanella's trailer, deep in the woods, outside of the small town of Tear Falls.
Make sure you click on the link to the song immediately after reading the passage. It helps one visualize the scene and write it!

Teddy came back with two glasses of Forty Creek whiskey. He placed one on the coffee table in front of Noldy.
“Just in case,” he said, grinning.
He took a drink from his glass and noticed the solemn look on Noldy’s face.
“Hey, it’s all good. She died twelve years ago. April 23rd. The suit, the hair—it's my way of celebrating. I remember all the good times and don’t dwell on the sad shit. Why would I?”
“That’s... well, that’s just a nice way of looking at it,” Noldy replied, resting his left arm across the top of the sofa. “Let me ask you something.”
“Open book,” Teddy said.
“You went straight into the army after Grade 12, right?”
“Yup. They trained me to be a mechanic. Did a tour over in Bosnia. But I left after ten years. Too hard on the family—and the mind.”
“And you came back to Tear Falls and started the small engine repair business.”
“About sums it up. Hey, I know—you’re wondering why I didn’t go to university?”
“Crossed my mind.”
“Wasn't for me. Plus, the money. Army paid for most of my training. But that didn’t mean I stopped reading. That’s where Ruby Karth came in. He read a lot too—probably more than me. We got into all sorts of conversations when I’d go up to fix stuff at his cabin. I called him my bookworm kindred spirit.”
“And hence his trust in you, taking all those boxes.”
“Hence—you’re right. And hence, I didn’t kill him,” Teddy said with a smile.
“Yeah... I guess not,” Noldy replied, smiling back. He finished his glass of wine and sat up. “Alright, let’s do this. When and where do you propose we meet Eddy Wong?”
“I propose I phone him and get back in touch with you.” Teddy stood and walked over to his stereo. “I’m too fucked up right now to be discussing those plans any further. The conversation has been a little tense tonight, wouldn’t you agree? How about some wind-down music—and maybe you can leave in time to catch your friends for the third period.”
“That, and maybe some black coffee,” Noldy said, glancing at his watch. “What do you have in mind?”
“Well, you are never going to believe this.” Teddy carefully placed a record on the turntable.
“Believe what?”
“Believe this is the song I asked Genevie to slow dance to—over 30 years ago.” He gently lowered the stylus. “Let’s give this a little volume, shall we? I think you’ll approve.”
Noldy listened to the opening chords as Teddy returned to his chair. He smiled.
“Foreigner. ‘Waiting for a Girl like You.’”
He picked up his whiskey glass as Teddy did the same.
Teddy raised his glass. “Cheers to good memories, my friend. I think we’ll need them.”

Q: Are the characters in the book based on real people?

A: The characters in Drip Castle are completely fictional(*checks off lawyer list*). They are a mishmash of many people I have experienced over the years with a healthy dose of imagination. The setting is loosely based on growing up in …
